There is something about getting away from all the hustle and bustle of normal life. Even if you haven’t tried a hiking tour before, once you do you will instantly realise the appeal.
A hike doesn’t necessarily have to mean taking on a mountain. On a lovely afternoon why not walk in your local area. Forget the car and get outside in the great outdoors.
Some of my most memorable moments, and photos, have come from some of the walking tours I have done. These have ranged from walking the Inca Trail instead of taking the express option of the train to Machu Picchu in Peru and walking around the stunning Torres Del Paine National Park in Chile to an afternoon wandering the crowded cobbled streets of Mostar in Bosnia and imagining lives lost while walking around the excavated streets of Herculaneum in Italy.
Each walking trip has been memorable for different reasons and each one has a special meaning. It could be the silence of the landscape all around you while you take in the bright turquoise waters of the lakes surrounding the Towers Mastiff in Torres Del Paine to wondering why on earth anyone would want to bomb a bridge as beautiful as that over the Neretva River in Mostar.
It could quite simply be being stopped in your tracks while out on a walk in the local woods when the rays of the sun shine like lasers through the canopy above.
Inspiration is all around us, we just have to get out there and discover it for ourselves.
