Bolivia is a land of Extremes. Cut off from the coast courtesy of a war with its neighbours and modern day corruption at the highest levels of government have left the country in a dire state financially.
But what they lack they make up for in friendliness and hospitality, albeit with a dodgy country wide electricity supply.
You have the largest salt flats on earth at Salar de Uyuni, not far from there they have the highest geyser field on the planet and the driest place on Earth (contrary to popular belief that it is the Atacama in neighbouring Chile). La Paz is the highest city in the world and home to a still operating silver mine that is said to have claimed the lives of 8 million men in its 500 year history.
Throw in hot springs, the worlds largest ski resort, the worlds largest collection of dinosaur footprints and the worlds most dangerous road.
Bolivia is waiting to be explored. You just have to make the effort to get there but if you do you won’t be disappointed.
