Central America is largely sold to us as a  palm-fringed picture-postcard beach destination but Central America is also amazingly diverse.

The 7 countries that makeup Central America (Panama, Costa Rica, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua) sit on several active seismic fault plains that bring volcanic eruptions and earthquakes with quite some regularity.

All this seismic activity brings great benefits to the biodiversity of the region which accounts for over 7% of the worlds flora and fauna but only occupies roughly 3% of the total landmass.

Travel inland from the well trodden coastal paths and you can find a plethora of experiences, wonderful cuisine, friendly people and simply stunning landscapes ripe for exploration.
