Climbing Kilimanjaro Machame Route
What is it that makes Kilimanjaro alluring for so many?
It is the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. It is also the only mountain on the equator that still has glaciers on its peak, for now!
Is Kilimanjaro an easy mountain to summit? Technically speaking, yes it’s a very accessible mountain for non experienced climbers to summit.
The challenge to a successful summit is how you handle an invisible enemy – altitude. Everyone handles altitude differently and its almost impossible to train for at lower altitudes.
Hopefully, my day by day account summiting Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route will amuse, enlighten and educate you about the challenges you may face.
